It’s all out now!

Code Camp is coming to Seattle on October 22nd & 23rd.

This is an event for developers, by developers – two days packed with content from presenters all over the West Coast. With the community momentum from PDC and the Code Camp in Portland last July, this upcoming event in Seattle is going to be off the charts… please help spread the word with the attached invite so developers in our accounts don’t miss out!

This is the premier event for developers in the Seattle metro area. The location in Federal Way is within driving distance from Olympia to Everett (on the weekend anyway J). I’m working on chartering transportation for developers in Spokane as well (contact me for more details).

Services employees (particularly of the dev persuasion) – not only should you attend, but I encourage you to join in the fun and present a session or two! Sharing your real-world experience building enterprise solutions (and putting out fires) would be of great value to your peers in the developer community. We don’t need no stinkin’ product group market-droids, we want the real deal! Please contact me if you’re interested.

Thanks for your help everyone – it’s campin’ time!

I don’t think I will get to go but darn it sounds like fun!

Yes it is extremely strange but I am sitting in a room at PDC hooked up to the world via my i730 phone with no power. As long as the battery holds out I will be OK but I am now hearing a demo… this is strange but hey I am still geeking out!

I also just found out that my hosting provider is in LA and pewitt.org is down now so you will not get to see this post until it comes back online  so much for backup power.

The world famous Michael Palermo is launching a site that will be similar to to www.regexlib.com but for Visual Studio 2005 code snippets. If you have a code snippet now please help get this site off to a great start http://www.gotcodesnippets.net. If not go check it out around PDC (Sep 12th – 16th) to see the site when it goes live.

One of my teammates Jason Mauer and he has been having epic tails of frustration with his laptop but in his latest post he pointed to a cool tool I did not know about called SyncToy it’s described as “provides easy and flexible copying, moving, and synchronization of files in different directories” I have yet to use it but you know I will be baking up my system tonight with it!

I was talking to a member of a MCSD Study Group who was looking for free online resources for the new Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005 will turns out there are currently resources on line. msdn.microsoft.com/vs2005/learning and www.microsoft.com/learning/sql where you can do skill assessments and find E-Learning Online Training resources.

I think it’s great what the local MCSD Study Groups in SoCal have achieved and I am sure with these types of resources they can continue to help people achieve.

I know this sounds sick but yes people do make managed code that they want to expose to COM (think VB6 application now start adding features in .NET). I have too much experience exposing managed code to COM (will the nightmares ever end?) but it was all done with painful experience but I just found a good article that I would have killed for when I started doing it.

Using .NET assemblies with COM
