Microsoft is giving any one who answers 3 questions about Windows licensing a free USB Drive. I don’t know how big it is but hey free is free.

I am sorry for anyone who dose not care but I want to explain while I will be flaky for the next few days. Yesterday as I was leaving the office I got a call from my wife that the house had been broken in to some time during the day. Wow what crapy thing, everyone is OK and that is the most important thing but now I will get to deal with all the crap around this event. They got my wife's laptop all of her jewelry which most of is family related, they may have gotten some other small things but nothing much. It was a grab what is easy to grab and run type of thing, they missed so much that I feel lucky! They had all the time they wanted to do what they wanted.

Any way I will end my winning now but I hop you all have good locks and keep you stuff out of site and locked up if you can.

I love the tool Fiddler but the only problem up till now you could not do HTTPS with it but now there is a new plug-in RPASpy!

This could start some interesting discussions with people… <StartSopeBox>Should developers need to look at the HTML stream? The Microsoft tools do a great job of abstracting HTML from the developer. I have seen a lot of developers who don’t know what HTML that gets created for them and it sometimes causes issues around how css works with there pages or how there pages render on non-IE browsers. So my humble suggestion is study your downstream HTML.</StartSopeBox>

I got to present to the to the ASP.NET Users Group in San Diego last night on the ASP.NET HTTP life cycle. I hope all in attendance enjoyed the topic I know that each time i work with HttpModules and HttpHandlers I get a whole new appreciation for what ASP.NET dose for us!

Here is the content from last night: Slides and Sample Code

I had some in-depth questions about ASP.NET caching after the meeting some resources on caching are:

ASP.NET Caching Features
ASP.NET Caching: Techniques and Best Practices

But I still have yet to find good content to answer what are the memory implications of caching, I will keep looking.

Thanks all for coming last night and I look forward to talking to you again soon.

OK this is only for the hard core geeks but some great go getters in the LA area are putting together a BarCamp… don’t know what a BarCamp is? Check out the BarCamp Los Angeles wed site where there are several links to find-out more information. I will be there and hope to give some talks about Atlas and other new tools that Microsoft is coming up with.

I have been asked of late some questions on how to do distribution of Smart Client applications with Visual Studio 2005. To use the traditional installer you will need to get to know the Windows Installer SDK with this SDK you can do anything you may want. Make sure you checkout the ClickOnce information so you can see how much it can do for you with or without the Windows Installer SDK.
