Software I use

Published by

This is a page where I list the software I use\used just so I can remember what and where I got it and sometimes why I started or stopped using it. Why do I do this? I like to burn my system down about every 3 to 4 months (with VMs that is more like 6 months now) and it’s painful sometimes to try to recall what I had on the last build of my system.

I have started to use for the software it has, it really helps making getting a box up and running quickly. I have asked them to add several of the apps that I have listed below. I hope they can accommodate me soon.

This list is in no particular order and does not include most of my dev tools & SDKs as I will only install them as needed.

Mac Systems:

Windows Systems:

Visual Studio:

Other IDEs

I have become a big fan of the JetBrains IDEs and I use the ones below on a regular basis

Firefox Add-ons:

  • Screengrab
  • Site Information Tool
  • DownloadThemAll
  • YSlow

Chrome Extensions:

  • BuiltWith Technology Profiler
  • Chrome SEO
  • Domain Details
  • Download All
  • Google Mail Checker Plus
  • Google Voice (by Google)
  • Screen Capture (by Google)

  • YSlow
  • Amazing Icon Downloader

Random Tools\Utilities:

While you are at it you should check out the Lifehacker Pack for Windows: Our List of the Best Windows Downloads article, there is a little overlap but they have some stuff there that I have yet to try out.
